From the Aural Hypnox archives:

A little over a year or maybe two ago, my beloved backup hard drive, on which I’ve collected most of my audio and visual material over the years, crashed without warning. And getting the files back has been a pain. Fortunately, most of them have now been restored and reorganized and I thought it’s time to update, from time to time, some selected photos here as well before the next disaster.

Here are some photos from the “Tuliheinävalvojaiset”; it was special event organized by Aural Hypnox on September 29, 2007 and dedicated to our work on Artemisia Vulgaris. From the original brochure; “The performers all have a close relationship with this old guide and ally. In this event, we want to celebrate and give both form and language to the plant’s current flow, past and future, which are all present.”

The evening was organized at a place called “Villa Pukkila” in our home town Oulu and the performance took place under the name of Aural Holograms, which included the personnel of Arktau Eos, Halo Manash and Tiermes.

The ground floor of the Villa was reserved for the public, but the performing artists moved between the upper, lower and outer floors during the whole evening, while feeding elemental feedback mainly through acoustic instrumentation to the amplifiers directed to the structures on the upper floor. We also had a camera there to sent spectral images to receiver downstairs from places otherwise closed to the public. What a great night it was! Thanks to everyone who was there.

Below is a brief background on the albums from an interview we did with Kerval in 2008.

“The trilogy can be viewed as a treelogy – a tripartite work in the shape of a tree, with roots, trunk and branches. “Language of Red Goats”, the first part, is the celestial Lunar seed in the dark earthly womb that gives form to the roots, that spread themselves in the underworlds, in the nether realms, in cavernous depths populated by serpentine, slithering creatures. “Am Kha Astrie”, the second part, is the trunk, the pillar that breaks the surfaces and planes, crossing the thresholds, and emerges upward, rising into this world – it is horns spiraling skywards, antlers ascending into light. “Taiwaskivi” is the branches of the tree, reaching toward Sol and Stars and beyond; it is the leaves and fruit of those branches and their skybound nectar; the cradle of winged, feathered creatures – it is the Crown at the peak, the Heavenly Fire.

The works are also tree-faced in many other aspects: in relation to the seasons, states of being, and various other correspondences. Language of Red Goats is winter and dream and awakening. Am Kha Astrie is spring and birth and coming-into-being. Taiwaskivi is summer, life, death, re-birth, passing-into-new-being. The work as a whole represents an eternal spiral, a total transformative cycle of Life, Death and Re-birth.”
