Arastoo is another one of those outfits (persons, actually) who has loads of releases out, but all of them are ultra limited and thus seemingly impossible to get. The last (and only) thing we had from Arastoo was a gorgeous cd-r released on Dielectric records, and now of course out of print. So we were super excited when AQ pal Brandon decided to release a brand new Arastoo on his label Isoundcore. it's still limited of course, but we managed to get a bunch, although we imagine these won't last long. Arastoo is Arastoo Darakhshan, and is another in the brotherhood of the drone, deftly exploring a warm and wonderful drone drenched ambience. Three is a series of deep cavernous drones, warm and rich, not so much rumbling and sort of washing over you like the sun drenched surf. But this is NOT sunny, this is like a sky devoid of sun, a blanket of rich blackness, permanent nighttime. Occasionally punctuated by haunting reverbed tones, presumably the sound of struck metal. Creepy buzzing alien melodies drift by like a broken trumpet or some sort of shortwave guitar. The heart of the record is a massive, slow building ultra dense drone, layers of low-end get thicker and thicker, while additional layers are added slowly and subtly, each of those new layers, slightly higher in pitch, the result is a rich swirl of strange overtones and hunting ghostlike melodies. The title of this EP WAHID means something like 'independent' (also 'alone' or 'solo') in arabic language. The title track on Side A is build on powerful oriental percussion, mixed with mesmerizing floating flute, drone and e-bow guitar sounds, forming layers of harmonic overlapping... EPITAPH 3, the B side, is less rhythmically structured and creates enormous space with backwards-sounds from cymbals and voices, deep drones and synth layers at the base... two deeply mesmerizing tracks.... the two years of silence following the release of his debut-cd in 2001 were very well spent by the [law-rah] collective.In april of this year the cd 'isolation' was released on www.darkambient.net and not one month later force of nature is proud to present a 12" vinyl with two new tracks by the dutch collective. after the already sold-out skincrime album, 'vesuvius' is the second vinyl release on force of nature and the first in a series, where each release will be describing a different natural disaster. both tracks are around fifteen minutes in length and created with analog sound sources only. while the first side of the 12" describes the expulsion of volcanic gasses - solfataras - poisoning the air, the second side sketches a picture of Pompeii, herculaneum, oplonti and stabiae, each hidden under 10 to 75 feet of tephra (ashes). two days of volcanic activity killed over 3300 people. the design and packaging of 'Vesuvius' is explosive itself; slightly transparent golden vinyl resembling the power of the magma hidden deep inside the earth. An ash and smoke colored cover insert designed by dominick fernow of hospital productions not only gives a brief history of the volcano; it also acts as a guardian protecting the gold of an once so prosperous city which is no more. It is able to transform itself without losing its integral whole and basic organization. Each track here acts as 'product and producer', it has influenced or is a part of the other tracks and uses also parts of others. The idea behind this is to see music as an own entity, that uses us to create and transform itself. The idea is to change the regular viewpoint of seeing ourselves as the focus and being separated from the environment. The world is not an object, nor is music. Music is in ourselves and we are music, the same as we create it.

Hot on the heels of his latest 10inch, Le Tourne-Disque, which gained a very strong response from both fans and critics, Vromb strikes again with another 10inch release, this time focussing on the concept of locomotives and railways. Originally commissionned in 1994 for a theater play, called Faire du Train, the sound material on this release was recently re-worked and enhanced by the artist and it definately pursues on the minimal technology approach found on many Vromb past and recent releases, with atmospheric-oriented openings, intermezzos and closings, in the purest Vromb tradition. Upon hearing the first seconds of the opening track, with the train passing in a desert plain, by night, at an unstoppable pace, the listener will undoubtedly recall some childhood memories, those moments when he heard the locomotive roar from the neighboring railway, seconds before falling asleep... and was then dragged into organico-mechanical dreams...

And then comes the sloppy, fat, blueprint Vromb rhythmic section...
