When Eastern Europe only starts discovering "noise" music, in Japan - Meka of "noise' music, a new age of artists, naming themselves "post noise", wave is arising. One of them - Kouhei Matsunaga, well know from his split editions with Merzbow, constructed an interesting recording named "Complicated high still now…" from his archive tracks. Hladna and Kryptogen Rundfunk - behind these names stand two St. Petersburg-based musicians playing experimental noise music. They both nourish a tender passion for old electronic instruments and often use them at their concerts and on recordings. One warm sunny day they gathered and decided to play on two analogue rhythm synthesizers "Rokton" and "Formanta". These are actually two identical instruments which were produced in the Soviet Union by two different factories. Each of them is the "brain" for electronic drum-kit, but can also be used separately - as a multi-channel tone-noise-generator or rhytm-machine.

Kryptogen Rundfunk used his device smoothly, evenly and calmly while Hladna expelled from his more sharp and unpredictable sounds. Worth mentioning are Hladna's non-standard ways of making sound - on the last two tracks he opened the back plate of his synth and played not only using knobs but also getting inside and abridging contacts with his own hands (for which he was incidentally struck by the current a couple of times).

Live recording without any processing, with all it's natural crackles and tasty overloads. Abstract electronics, minimalism and a little noise.

Threatening new collaboration taking in parallel worlds of Extreme Computer Music and Black Metal. KTL is Stephen O'Malley (SUNNO))), Khanate) and Peter Rehberg (PITA). A six part collision amongst the increasingly fading prescences between the light and the dark. This work came about as the two were composing sound and music for a piece by Gisèle Vienne and Dennis Cooper, entitled 'Kindertotenlieder'. It must be stated that this CD is NOT the soundtrack to said piece, but a separate project. However, elements may appear in the finished piece which is to be premiered in Brest, France, March 2007. Pieces were recorded in a resistance fortress in southern France during a thunderstorm. Others in a wintergarden drenched in the sunlight.

Veterans of the Italian experimental scene, Le Forbici di Manitù celebrate in their own peculiar way twenty years of underground activism through an album recorded live in their cellar, offering new arrangements, essential and direct, of (nearly) all the “songs” in their back repertory, appeared from 1983 until today on a dozen of different releases (cds, compilations, rare cassettes and singles). One of the most enigmatic, eclectic and cosmopolitan bands of the Italian electronic scene returns with a singular sonorization - originally commissioned by the sci-fi festival Invasioni and performed live in Cosenza in Summer 2001 - paying a tribute to the cult movie Terrore nello spazio (1965, a.k.a. Planet of the Vampires and The Demon Planet) by Mario Bava (1914-1980), the undisputed and unforgotten Maestro of Italian gothic and macabre cinema (with films like Black Sunday, Black Sabbath, Blood and Black Lace, etc.), an ingenious and ironic innovator of the low budget productions that was appreciated and revalued in France, UK and USA much earlier than in his native country. Based freely on the story (later plagiarized by Ridley Scott’s Alien) of the spaceships Argot and Galliot, attracted to land on a dying planet by ectoplasmic alien-vampires that in order to escape to other worlds need to take possession of the body of astronauts turning them into living zombies, Le Forbici di Manitù have created a sharp-witted hybrid of B-movies retro-fascinations and stylized genre contaminations, by mixing samplers and analogic electronics with an instrumentation hinting at jazz (flute, clarinet, congas, vibraphone) and disseminating the score with surreal cut-ups of dialogues from vintage films (where horror queen Barbara Steele can be heard in conversation with the high-brow characters played by Monica Vitti or with the silly comedians Franco and Ciccio), to permeate it with a mid-Sixties mood.

Active since 1983 with an always transforming line-up - in this case composed by six individuals - rotating around the mysterious figure of the founder and guide Manitù Rossi, Le Forbici di Manitù start off with Terrore nello spazio the celebrations for their 20th Anniversary, that will continue in the following months with the release of the double album Tagliare (live + remixes). Moving freely between pop songs and electronic experimentation and crossing through the most diverse genres and styles, from conceptualistic noise to therapeutic trance-ambient, from folk-noir to technoid d’n’b, from progressive suites to plagiarist symphonies, the band has published till now, besides various cassettes and tracks on compilations, six CDs for prestigious Italian and international labels. Light Of Shipwreck is a one-man band operated by Ben Fleury-Steiner, a Deleware-based drone artist and owner of the excellent Gears of Sand Recordings imprint, which has released discs from some of our favorite ambient/drone/drift artists including Encomiast, Cordell Klier, and Aidan Baker. It was actually through Aidan Baker that we found out about Ben's Light Of Shipwreck project; knowing that we're fanatics for "heavy ambient" sound, Light Of Shipwreck was recommended as something we should check out. At first expecting something more along the lines of the kind of floating ambient rumble that marks so much of my favorite Baker solo stuff, I was pleasantly surprised by how percussive the tracks I heard online from LOS were, the dense, ominous feedback drones and heavy rumbling ur-riffs floating freely over a mechanistic tribal-rhythm freakout. We ended up getting in touch with Ben from Light Of Shipwreck and it turned out that he had a nearly hour-long disc that he wanted to have released through our Crucial Bliss imprint, and here we are: a three-track full length of rich, crushing power-ambient, titled From The Idle Cylinders, a reference to the American Objectivist poet George Oppen whose work is a consistent influence on Light Of Shipwreck's imagery, with huge slabs of resonant sheet metal shimmering in an ocean of heavenly feedback and reverberating guitar drone, and surges of droning tribal Krautrock percussion floating along with distorted ambient doom powerchords and washed out vocal cord bliss, each track running upwards of 20 minutes in length. A totally breathtaking piece of music, like Steve Reich, Brian Eno, Can, and Earth swirled together into an austere, hypnotizing heavy-trance masterpiece. This limited edition CD-R of From The Idle Cylinders comes packaged in the signature Crucial Bliss foldover card sleeve with the disc itself attached to the sleeve on a plastic hub and featuring striking photo design, in a print run of 200 copies.

Finally, after a pronounced delay, we're presenting the latest in grim, Cthulhian ambient death from David Reed, the man behind the Snip-Snip CD-R label and the ice-drones of Envenomist. With Luasa Raelon, Reed uses deep-frozen synthesizers and electronics to construct pitch-black sonic sculptures that evoke lost cities carved from obsidian whose masterless machines have been left to grind on into eternity, or descents into stygian pits whose bottoms cannot be gauged. Into The Void is the newest masterwork from Reed, recorded in 2006 and presented here as a five-chapter narrative that chronicles a doomed space exploration, where all that is left are the faint transmissions of apocalyptic dread drifting back at us through time. Beyond ominous, and gorgeously eerie, Reed continues to craft some of the blackest, heaviest drift this side of Gruntsplatter, Troum, Lull, Yen Pox, Melek-Tha, Lustmord, and Megaptera. Maeror Tri was recording the album being fascinated by their own extreme polar states of mind, expressed and triggered through music. MPD : this illness has been investigated only a litle bit as yet. It is known as the most extreme form of Schizophrena. The tracks on this album express the four basic characters which appear nearly to all MPDpatients. There have been cases at which over 100 personalities were founded in one human! The disorder reveals totally different persons in one one person which can change suddenly and without any pre-symptoms; when the character changes there will also be a total change in sex, behaviour, voice and even language. Magnus Alexanderson born January 17th 1961. Studied guitar,bassoon and musical theory in his youth. Studies at the composition class in electronic and computer music at EMS/Royal College Of Music in Stockholm between 1980-82 for Lars-Gunnar Bodin,Rolf Enström,Tamas Ungvary and Jan W Morthenson. Continued studies in composition privately for Lars Sandberg (1982-85) and Miklos Maros (1985).

Magnus Alexanderson has mainly worked in the electro-acoustic field. His music has been performed at festivals worldwide often in combination with video projection by visual artist Sachiko Hayashi in their duo MASH. He is also a performing improviser on the electric guitar and electronics, most notably in the group Decision Dream. Collaborating Torture is one of the last known recordings made by Matt Gibney AKA Hollowing, who died in January 2006. Mirko Uhlig (*1981 in Aachen, Germany) is a German musician and producer in the contemporary field of drone and minimal ambient music, and co-founder of Ex Ovo Records.

He first appeared with surreal sound collages and musique concrète-techniques under the moniker Aalfang Mit Pferdekopf (catching eels with a horse's head) around 2004.

After releasing four albums and some EPs (on Aal, Einzeleinheit, Taâlem, Mystery Sea and Drone Records) Uhlig decided to release his now much more minimalistic and serene works under a less delusive name.

Uhlig's music is inspired by pioneers of drone and minimalistic music such as La Monte Young, early Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno, David Lynch, William Basinski and current Hafler Trio; echoing the blurred distance of a late Turner painting.

For this album Mathias Josefson, a sound-artist from Stockholm, collaborated with a number of his colleagues who provided him various source sounds to work with.

The name Sadalsuud refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is vaguely reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. An unsuspecting pre-listener described Sadalsuud as "a visit to a supposedly haunted house, though only once you've entered the house you begin to grasp the real meaning of haunting."

Only minimal sound editing and de-noising was applied to the material to keep the original raw spirit of these first Monoid documents.

After the good resonance of “Open Closure”, “Chaos Constrain”, the second Monoid tape, was released at the end of 1996. Here the seeds of the first tape are followed and further developed. This includes more minimal and abstract tracks where the only instrument seems to be the feedback of an undistinguishable sound source as well as song-like structures with spoken lyrics. The sound itself is more digital this time, using a broader variety of synthesizers and percussion modules. Still, hard rhythms, distortions and samples are still dominant in this release. The tale is concerning mind control by psychic, electronic, sexual, pharmaceutical, subliminal, and other means. Following a wave of recent reissues and re-recorded versions of older CD-R titles, Desire In Uneasiness is an album of all new material from the acclaimed Canadian dreamsludge weavers Nadja. Five colossal jams of eternally-fuzzy, ethereal dirge that are powered by the interlocking bass guitars of Leah Buckareff and Aidan Baker, who set loose a wave of monstrous grinding bass riffs amidst a fog of beautiful, swirling electronic effects. The three tracks of the album are a great mixture of all kinds of post-industrial music, with lot of different sides. It starts with bit´s of power electronices and changes to ambient sounds mixed with very good cut-ups. An unknown artifact of the 90-ies Russian industrial scene! Having recorded several tracks in 1997-1999 the members of the project haven't done absolutely anything to make the result available for the public, and they just disappeared in complete obscurity... Years later the composition "Swastika Man" was released on the "Red Square" compilation by KultFRONT label. And only now can the gap be considered completely filled as this disk contains the full legacy of the project.

Music of NBFA is a kind of old school electro industrial: catchy rhythms, melodies and well thought-out synthetic fillings of tracks. Peter Nystrom, the creator of the legendary “death industrial” project “Megaptera”, even working on his new project “Negru Voda” remains loyal to the traditional Scandinavian industrial music ideology and form. Step into the frenzied, rhythmic nightmare, ornamented scenes from living life in the blurred shadows. Those who enjoyed the Radius Suck compilation, or Economi$ed will want to know that Ocosi or artists in Ocosi probably made half of the tracks on the former and a quarter of the sounds on the latter. The new Ovro album consists of two distinct parts, each independent yet linked to each other. Ovro started working on Mosaick the Serpent already in late 2003. In the early stage it was to become an independent EP, but the appearance of Gegendurchgangenzeit delayed its release. Meanwhile, a companion EP started to take form, namely Vipera Aurea.
